I continued to be amazed at the low level of intelligence that we as consumers are displaying in our mad rush towards a more connected mobile device and data-driven society. Curiously, we have all stood still for draconian two-year carrier contracts and expensive upgrades for supposedly “subsidized” devices that should be better priced and far less costly.
We bend over and grab our ankles for complex restrictive data plans that allow carriers to continually raise rates for the even the flimiest of excuses.
We also put up with social services that brazenly sell and casually leak our personal information without permission or any types of protection, security or oversight. Yet we stand silent and still while we are being tracked, hacked, cracked and criminally exploited to death.
The worst part of all this is that there is very little, if anything, being done anywhere to remedy these mounting problems. So in effect we are setting ourselves up for the greater problems to come. In the meantime the problems continue to get ever more complex and thus harder to address.
The title of this post decribes pretty much what we have allowed ourselves collectively to become.
