I must admit I was one of the millions calling for release of the iPad Mini if there really was one. Well it was real and Apple finally “released the Kracken” and there are mixed emotions all around. Most are focused on the price which is not very competitive with other similar devices such as the just released Samsung Galaxy Note II, but Apple has never ever worried about price as a roadblock.
First Impressions:
Right off top, the iPad Mini is a beautiful looking device. It fits in the palm of a wide-open hand quite well and design-wise it is true Apple.
I held off getting an iPad beacause I really didn’t want to carry around another computer. The iPad Mini is a step up providing more real estate than an iPhone and offering an effective bridge between all of my business and social needs. It is a good trade off.
I also didn’t want to offer criminals another quick and obvious target for snatch and grab actions. Not that the Mini doesn’t, just it’s a little bit more stealthy and thus easier to conceal.
Lastly, I can actually do real work and research on it as opposed to struggling in the tight crimped confines of an iPhone.
The best part is that it has hit the market in perfect time for me to drop hints for it being my most desired holiday present. Even if I have to gift myself.
BTW. It is no mistake that there is a heavy Galaxy Note push this morning in our emails and on TV. I will not be surprized when I open up my magazines and newspapers to see even more. We are in the midst of yet another bitterly fought battle frontleading up to the big 2012 Holiday drive. The contest is joined and there will definately be blood on the street before it is over.
Everything till now has only been a hum we are about to hear the whole song!
