What next generation technology should forward thinking tech companies be working on right now? What are you waiting for if your jetpack or flying cars are not ready?
I have my own informed opinion. I still think of my smartphone as a controller and I am waiting for it to be intergrated into serving as the interface to my world.
We use to talk about embedded technology which was putting smart chips in everyday devices thus making them at least smarter. The argrument then was where should the intelligence be held in the device or in the band or network. The rise od the Internet and mobile devices and apps have directed embedded innovation into a much more realizable future. However, I still think that developers still do not realize the potential of all the tools at our disposal. We noe have several Operating systems that can drive our devices and appliances. We have development platforms we can use to build complex elegant solutions, and we have masterful devices that would allow us access from anywhere. Now that almost any device can be connected what is taking so long? The first in line should be television but we are still caught up in a should they or shouldn’t they dance. Watches and eyeglasses have actually come online first and products like the Pebble Watch and Google Glass should serve as beacons leading the way to hot new innovations.
