June 6, 1944 D-Day 68 Years Later

To me this day is the real memorial day. Enormous props and thanks are due all the brave men that stormed the beaches of Normandy in 1944, especiallty those that laid it down and left it there. These brave men looked into the face of death and didn’t flinch. I don’t know how you or I could have or would have handled that challenge. All thankfs to those alive and dead we don’t have to know.

My dad, now past, was one of the veterans of that conflict. He survived it but lived the remainder of his life with a metal plate in his head. He seldom talked about his impressions or the the rawness of that experience but I always knew and understood there was deep trauma and unspoken lost involved so I never pushed the issue. Again, thanks for looking out!
