Apple iPhone 5

iPhone 5 – If the rumor is right we might see them both in September.

That would be a bit early for holiday shopping and CES and Macworld. But would absolutely chill the planned media holiday attacks of Android, Windows Phone and WebOS competitors.

With all the new Android phones out there.  Speculation is strong that the next full revision of the Apple iPhone will be the strongest most significant advancement yet in the popular industry leading smartphone line. Apple has demonstrated the ability to silence competitive noise at this very point in masterful form causing competitors heads to swim.

Speculation has never been stronger about what the iPhone 5 would look like and what all features it would have. All hope is that it will be the nearest to perfection as we have come.

THE CLOUD: A Whole New Direction!

The Cloud

I went back to leading tech industry pundits predictions as we entered 2011 and none of them, including my own, ever predicted in the very least that the floodgates of Cloud Computing would open up as it has.

Perhaps like me at the time they really didn’t understand the application of Cloud Computing nor the impact it would have so soon. nor could they know who would step up to the plate to take it from concept to practice and make it happen.

Now that companies like Apple, Google, and Microsoft have exposed their “hold cards” it is possible to fit predictions in after the fact, and now we can visualize the impact and imagine that the whole world of computing will be reshaped over the next few years.

It was really not clear to me last year just what all the excitement around “The Cloud” was about, or if, or how it would impact my world, but slowly it is becoming clearer that it represents a whole new direction in computing, and represents a major trend and direction that is bound to seriously affect, impact and disrupt almost every aspect of just about everything we have casually taken for granted about technology over the decades. It is time to waken from our daze, and consider our relationship to “The Cloud”. It could change our education and career choices, business development plans, and product and service choices.

Many companies are also realizing the advantages of turning to the cloud and are seriously considering the changes they can or must take. They are busy reevaluating older traditionally delivered services and if necessary jettisoning older services in efforts to turn their business “on a dime” heading towards “cloud computing” as the possible ultimate answer to their many needs.

EXAMPLES:

  • Google with Chrome and Google Apps
  • Microsoft with Office 365
  • Apple iCloud with MacOSX Lion and iWork

These are just a few of the biggest and even numerous small players are shutting down or redirecting programs and resources, telling confused developers that they are focusing on cloud access, storage and services.

Ready or not it’s here and If the movers and shakers have their way, just about everything we do could or will be done in the cloud.

Talk about having our heads in the cloud!
